Pearlfisher has partnered with D&AD Shift for 2024 – this collaboration marks Pearlfisher London’s first participation in the programme, following the successful involvement of Pearlfisher’s New York studio in previous years.
D&AD Shift, launched in 2016, is a free, five-month night school programme dedicated to discovering raw creative talent. The initiative welcomes all creatives from artists, writers, and creative thinkers who were unable to complete traditional art school or college education but possess vision, talent, and immense potential.
Pearlfisher’s involvement with D&AD Shift runs deep, with Chloe Templeman, Pearlfisher London’s Executive Creative Director, having been part of the initiative since its inception. Chloe has mentored Shifters for the past 9 years and will be conducting a masterclass on the creative process to kick off this year’s training. Both Chloe and Rory Cowan, Designer at Pearlfisher, will be actively involved throughout the entire process, offering ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support to the Shifters.
In addition to hosting a workshop for Shifters at its London studio in July, Pearlfisher will provide support to Shifters throughout the programme, including offering advice and guidance on creative briefs, career progression goals, and industry navigation.
Rory, shares: “I love that Shift is challenging existing expectations and assumptions about where and how creative talent can be found and nurtured. I hope my experience can help inspire and support this year’s Shifters, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the programme.”
Pearlfisher will participate in key events throughout the programme, including observing Shifters’ presentations during Pitching Day at Diageo and conducting portfolio reviews. Notably, at the end of the programme, Pearlfisher will offer two placements to successful Shifters.
Over the years, D&AD Shift has gone from strength to strength, placing graduates in top agencies across the industry. The programme now operates in 6 global creative hubs, including New York, London, São Paulo, Berlin, Hamburg, and Sydney, aiming to train 100 Shifters annually.
